Library
Every library is an arsenal that is according to Robert Green Ingersoll. And yeah, ours here at Oshwal College is an arsenal loaded to combat illiteracy and to empower its users with the essential ammunition to survive against fierce sharks in the murky waters of academia and career advancement. Are we an effective arsenal? Well, we can lay claim to this by the excellent academic results being displayed by many of our users. We have in one way or another contributed to their success and this gives us great pleasure and fulfillment.
Being a relatively small library, we have endeavored to offer the best services possible to the college community by providing the most up to date book materials possible, and this has been our pride all along the years. Kudos to the College Management and to the entire college community for enabling us achieve this noble feat. We are not yet at our best but every effort is being made to improve on our offering.
Our quest to provide high quality services to the college community started way back in 2007 when groundwork was laid for provision of more modern services. As of now the library has been installed with a wireless network to enable those with laptops and Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices be able to access the resources more conveniently. We requested for additional 12 personal computers to enable members to access information from the internet and other electronic sources more comfortably. Everything has been put in place and we now await the delivery of the machines to enable our members have a more enjoyable experience in the library.
With growth come change and the need for expansion and streamlining of our services. The college has made the first step of becoming a fully fledged university with the introduction of the Bsc Computing program in collaboration with the Greenwich University. As such, the challenge to become a fully fledged academic library with the ability to support more scholarly research has never been more real. We are therefore faced with the onerous task of improving our facilities and services to conform to this trend, a task we are more than ready to face.
We are also positively on a bid to improve our journals and periodicals collection. In this regard we have subscribed also to two very prominent journals; The Harvard Business Review and the CIPD leadership magazine. Additionally we are also sourcing for the most current periodicals in a wide spectrum of issues including Accountancy, Business Management, Technology and Current Affairs.
Finally, a wise man once said that “People can lose their lives in libraries. They ought to be warned”, well it looks like here at Oshwal College, most of us follow this advice rather literally for the most part of the academic semester, well, until that time towards the mid or the end of the year when exams start.
